Dr. Jorge Rodríguez is a Computer Engineer and researcher at Ghent University, affiliated with the Intelligent Systems Engineering group within the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Product Design. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science Engineering and has extensive experience in software engineering, data analytics, and intelligent systems.
His research focuses on the development of data-driven methods for analyzing complex real-world systems, with particular interest in crowdsourced mobility data, machine learning, data mining, clustering techniques, rule-based classification, hotspot detection, and decision-support systems. His work explores how large-scale smartphone and sensor-generated data can be transformed into actionable insights for mobility analysis, transportation planning, tourism studies, and industrial applications.
In addition to mobility analytics, he is involved in research on reverse supply chains, remanufacturing systems, risk assessment methodologies, and predictive modeling for industrial decision-making. His research combines methodological innovation with practical applications, aiming to bridge the gap between advanced analytics and real-world engineering challenges.
Alongside his academic activities, Jorge has extensive experience in software development and research management, contributing to interdisciplinary projects that integrate artificial intelligence, data science, and industrial engineering.
