Onderzoeksdag UGent-Howest 2026
(27-03-2026) Yesterday, we at UGent Campus Kortrijk joined hands with Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen to organise an inspiring research day. At Stad Kortrijk Campus Weide, this event brought together many research groups, students and partners to showcase ongoing projects and exchange ideas.
At ISyE, we were proud to have contributed with a range of interactive demos and activities.
ProoVit assembly: is there still a place for humans in the assembly environment of the future? Participants explored a flexible setup with digital work instructions and advanced operator support.
PlanVar interactive planning game: visitors experienced the impact of planning and control decisions on lead time, flow and delivery reliability. In a realistic simulation, participants discovered how planning for variability works and which parameters truly make a difference.
Production automation: demonstrated how to design, optimise and validate processes and layouts using simulation, from production flows to interactions between automated systems and human teams.
Flexible automation: which showcased robotics/cobots, vision systems and the use of virtual models (simulation, emulation, virtual commissioning).
Tour at Flanders Make: a visit that included the Digital Twin Control Room and a ProoVit demo scenario focused on human-centered, flexible assembly concepts.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this day a success!
