Are you a student passionate about technology and sustainability? Join the Student Sustainability Design Hack at Siemens’ Realize LIVE 2025 in Detroit or Amsterdam! Showcase your innovative and sustainable engineering design skills in our 48-hour engineering design hack. Team up with fellow students to solve a real-world sustainability challenge in consumer electronics – created by Sony – while gaining hands-on experience with Siemens NX and the latest in immersive design.

What is Realize LIVE?

Realize LIVE is Siemens’ global digital transformation conference, bringing together customers, partners, and experts to share ideas, best practices, and innovation in engineering and manufacturing.

Student Sustainability Design Hack 2025
June 30 - July 2, 2025 | Amsterdam

The prizes
The winning team will receive a Sony PlayStation 5 for each team member. No cash or substitutions.

The cost
Participation is free. Siemens covers:
  • Two Realize LIVE registrations (valued at over $1000), including on-site entertainment, industry sessions, and access to the Solutions Center.
  • Hotel accommodation for two team members (up to 4 nights).
  • Meals and snacks during the event.

The timeline
  • Application deadline: 12 May, 8:59 PM CEST
  • Selection notification: by 14 May
  • Confirmation deadline: 25 May
  • Challenge dates: 30 June - 2 July, 2025 in Amsterdam
  • Presentation & judging: 2 July

So, what do you need to apply?

  • Team of 2–5 full-time students (Fall 2025 enrollment), all from the same university.
  • Minimum one year of college completed.
  • All team members must be 18+ and apply individually.
  • Submit resume, team name, skills, essay answer.
  • At least 2 members must be proficient in CAD.
