Practical Assignments for Engineering students
Each year 5th year engineering students from the Master in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research engage in practical work within companies, in the domains of operations research, management and logistics. Mostly this is done as part of their final Master's thesis work by one or two students. The problem should be well focused and the data required should be available. The work is done between the months of September and April. Companies should submit their proposal (one A4) before February 28 of each year, preferably after contacting one of the staff members of the department.
These are some of our past engagements:
- Optimizing work flow and layout in an automotive parts picking center (nov 2007) (Dec 23, 2007)
- Determining the potential improvements using Lean concepts in a lamp production line (nov. 2006) (Jan 04, 2007)
- Flow optimization in a textile factory (nov 2006) (Jan 04, 2007)
- Optimisation of warehouse operations in a agriculture/garden products distribution firm (nov 2006) (Jan 04, 2007)
