Reorganization of the production of a windmill supplier
Thorough analysis of the operational organization of a company producing windmill blades (up to 49 m long). The large dimensions as well has high manual labour content resulted in a high level of manhours. To increase revenue the company had to increase productivity. The engineering students (2) analyzed the work methods and equipment used, as well as the layout of the production. They could show that impressive improvements were possible, when using improved methods and introducing shop floor control systems to convey the production rate to the manual workers.
