MPA Students Explore the Future of Manufacturing in Flanders

(13-04-2026) Last week, Ben Van Roose delivered an inspiring guest lecture to our Master students of Science in Machine and Production Automation (MPA) programme at UGent Campus Kortrijk. Ben addressed the key challenges and future outlook of the manufacturing industry in Flanders.

How are geopolitical developments impacting our companies? What does it take to keep Flemish industry competitive? How can we navigate major disruptions, such as the rise of China’s “dark factories”?

Ben addressed the key challenges and future outlook of the manufacturing industry in Flanders. The session highlighted not only the challenges, but also the many opportunities and solutions ahead. Manufacturing remains a cornerstone of our prosperity, with Flanders excelling in high-mix, low-volume production.

Importantly, Ben also emphasized the crucial role our students will play in shaping the future of industry. Their unique profile is a strong asset for companies, especially for the many innovative and high-performing businesses in our region of West Flanders.

We'd like to thank Ben Van Roose for sharing his valuable insights and inspiring our students.
